eBulletin: Twitter for the Performance Boating Industry

Of all the social media we’ve used to reach our Performance Boating audience, Twitter has been far and away the most successful. Of course, one reason for this is that I’ve been at this since 2009—and though the activity level has varied over the years, we’ve steadily continued to grow our following. Today, we’re just a couple dozen under 3,000 followers – and we hope to hit that mark soon.


In Twitter terms, that’s not huge, but when you look at the Offshore and Performance Boating audience, it’s pretty impressive. There are a lot of well-known industry accounts, publications and organizations that have a smaller Twitter audience than SWELL…and why that is something we’re very proud of—we’d like to see a little more engagement among our Twitter crowd.


For many performance boating industry users, Twitter seems like an afterthought. People aren’t sure how to use it, or how to make it work for them.
